HOUSE RULES

When you arrive at Repair Cafe Malvern Hills or any of the other Repair Cafés in the network, you will be asked to complete a brief registration form and sign a disclaimer that clearly explains the house rules. This procedure must be carried out before you see a repairer and is important as it safeguards both customers and repairers.  All information on the form is treated with the utmost confidence and is solely for our own records.  Our GDPR compliance clause is now included on the registration form so you can be sure that if you choose to leave your email address, this will be stored securely.

The main points of the disclaimer are:

  • All repairs carried out at Repair Café Malvern Hills are performed at the customer's own risk. The advice and repair service is conducted by experienced and competent volunteers for which there is no charge but donations are welcome to cover costs.

  • Potentially dangerous tools and equipment are always present and sometimes used in repairs.  Parents must exercise control over and are fully responsible for the behaviour of their children whilst attending the Repair Café.

  • Customers are expected to remain with the repairer while their repair is being carried out in order to see how it is being done, to assist if appropriate and to pick up new skills.  Under normal circumstances, items should not be left with the repairer and collected later.  Should an item be left due to the length of the queue, the Repair Café management cannot accept responsibility for an item's safe-keeping.

  • Neither the organisers of the Repair Café nor the repairers in personal capacities or otherwise are liable for any accidental damage that may occur to either visitors' goods (including vehicles parked at the premises) or personal effects during their time at the Repair Café.

  • Customers are responsible for providing any consumables such as leads, plugs, fuses, zips etc. that may be needed to successfully complete a repair.

  • Repairers offer no guarantee for any repairs carried out with or without a customer's help and are not liable in the event of any repaired items not working and/or breaking down later, either at home or in the future.

  • After making an initial assessment, repairers are fully entitled to use their discretion and refuse to repair an item if it is considered to be too dangerous or beyond repair.

  • Repairers are not obliged to reassemble disassembled appliances that cannot be repaired and customers are responsible for the removal of any irreparable item.

  • To cut down on unnecessary waiting times during busy periods, a maximum of ONE item per person will be examined. Should time allow, extra items may be considered for examination and repair but each item must be registered separately.

  • Repair Café Malvern Hills takes no responsibility in any form whatever for any item, repaired or otherwise, once it has left the premises where the Repair Café session is taking place.

It is always assumed that when the disclaimer has been signed by the customer, they have read, understood and fully accepted the house rules.
